Language translation is a job in Item Bank Health Check (IBHC) that converts Items into a designated target language, allowing for the efficient localization of assessment content for global deployments and diverse learner populations.
Rather than requiring manual translation for every individual Item, this functionality generates linguistic versions at scale, providing a foundation for review and refinement.

When to use this job
The language translation job is particularly effective when you need to:
- Expand global reach: Deliver assessments in languages other than the original authoring tongue to meet international requirements.
- Ensure instructional parity: Establish parallel-language versions of assessments to support bilingual programs or equity in instruction.
- Optimize localization workflows: Scale multilingual strategies while reducing the manual lift and associated costs of traditional translation.
Running the job
- Open the Learnosity Console and navigate to Item Bank Health Check.
- Create a Collection or select an existing one with the Item bank you want to analyze.
- Click on Create and select Language translation from the menu of available job types.
- Select the desired target language the Items should be translated to.
- Initiate the process by clicking Run job.
The time required for completion depends on the volume of content within the Collection.
Reviewing results
Following the analysis of the Collection, a review space lists each Item where new translations were proposed. This allows you to:
- Compare the source and translated versions.
- Evaluate and accept the AI-generated recommendation.
- Refine the translated text to improve fluency or technical precision.
- Choose to reject the suggestion if a full manual rework is required.
We recommend reviewing results to ensure the AI suggestions match your organization’s pedagogical style and specific nomenclature. While the tool provides a robust starting point, human validation is recommended for idiomatic expressions, cultural nuances, and mathematical notation.
