Correct answer validation is a job in Item Bank Health Check (IBHC) that evaluates Items to verify that the designated correct answer is accurate.
When a potential discrepancy is identified, the job surfaces a suggested correction for your evaluation, providing a critical safety net for large-scale quality assurance.
Maintaining the integrity of your assessment depends on precise answer keys. Factually incorrect designated answers can negatively impact learner scores, undermine institutional credibility, and necessitate significant manual remediation.
This functionality ensures that your Item banks remain reliable and trustworthy at scale.
IBHC is a premium feature and may not be included in your product license. For more information, reach out to your Learnosity Customer Success Manager.
When to use this job
The correct answer validation job is particularly effective when you need to:
- Verify imported content: Ensure the integrity of answer keys when migrating or importing new materials into a Collection.
- Audit inherited banks: Conduct a quality review of existing content portfolios before utilizing them in high-stakes live assessments.
- Perform periodic reviews: Catch potential errors introduced during the authoring process through regular quality control cycles.
Running the job
- Open the Learnosity Console and navigate to Item Bank Health Check.
- Create a Collection or select an existing one with the Item bank you want to analyze.
- Click on Create and select Correct answer validation from the menu of available job types.
- Initiate the process by clicking Run job.
The time required for completion depends on the volume of content within the Collection.
Reviewing results
Following the analysis of the Collection, two review spaces list the Items within your Collection that have been flagged for review:
Action review:
- Items in this space have been flagged for a potential answer key error. Each entry displays the suggested correction alongside the AI's reasoning, so you can quickly evaluate the recommendation.
- For every flagged Item, you can accept the suggested correction, manually refine the answer, or dismiss the flag once you've confirmed the original content is accurate.
Guided Fixes review:
- Items in this space require human input because the correction involves updating the Question's settings — for example, removing distractors or changing the number of possible answers in an MCQ.
- The right-side panel explains the required change and lets you edit the Item accordingly.
You can then accept the modification, or dismiss the suggestion and leave the Item unchanged.
We recommend reviewing results against authoritative source materials before finalizing any updates.
